Horrible news.

Gentle Deskers, you will be shocked and dismayed to read of the sudden death of Eliza Harms on Friday 10th July. Her great and best friend DeDe is handling the breaking of news and I'm sure that like me, you send her love and courage to handle that, the hardest of jobs.
Eliza joined WOYWW a few months before she rescued Yoda and made all of us cat lovers. She was always absorbed and incredibly busy by her job in broadcasting, she seemed to me to live her life in a whirlwind of activity work and fun.  I'm not going to say any more just now; DeDe will post when she can face it and we'll chat about this extraordinarily caring and engaged friend again on Wednesday. Meanwhile, please hold Eliza and her lovely family in your thoughts.

I am so glad I took a risk and contacted Eliza and met this lovely lady last year when we visited her state. So many of you have known her longer than me, but I can say that she was just as nice in person. She was a real "rock" to her family, and she and her friend Dede had a lovely close relationship that I basked in for the time I was there with them both.
The day that Eliza died, the two friends had spent most of the day together, and played in Eliza's craft room for much of that time. Isn't that what we'd all like to be doing when we pass. Much too soon for Eliza of course. It was actually Wednesday that she passed! Wednesday..and she was at her desk.

Oh Julia, that is such sad, sad news. What a lovely lady she was, only knowing her through WOYWW, of course, and her love for Yoda showed through constantly. Sending much love and thoughts to those she has left behind. xxxxxx

It's astonishing how upset this has made me, given that I never met Eliza in real life. It's testament to the friendships that are built up through WOYWW that we can be affected so much. She lived her life to the max, didn't she? I think that's wonderful. But I'm so so sad that she's gone before her time.
Grab each day and make the most of everything.

Jan xxxx

Ps please can you ask DeDe to try and head off the card I sent?

It comes as quite a shock to me, and I didn't even know her in person, only through WOYWW.
Well, she seemed to have lived life to the full.

I cannot find words to express how I feel save that this has upset me so much. Eliza was one special lady and I have included a paragraph from one of her emails on Flat Susan's Blog because she was so special and so amazing. I will miss her so much and am thinking and praying for her family, for Myrene, Michael, her father, Dede and Yoda and the other fur babies.
Neet xx.

Oh gosh, one more star shining in the sky above us, A lovely lady - love and thoughts are with De De her much loved friend, Yoda our little darling entertainer and of course her own family who are all so young to go through such heartache.

I worked out that Eliza must have only been about 52 or so - life and what it deals is just so unfair. I cried here - mostly as a beautiful and genuine lady is up in the stars right now, you lit up our lives previously Eliza and we'll always think of you when we look up into the stars at night.

RIP sweet girl.

Hugs

Di xx

I'm just devastated here in OZ...I had known Eliza many years and stayed with her as well....she cared about everyone and everything...it made her open to attack by others and it broke her heart at times....such a loss indeed :(

Sad news, and so sudden. Although I knew her best via Woyww, I actually met Eliza years ago at an art retreat. It was always a privilege to swap art with her. And I always enjoyed her lovely Yoda stories. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family.

Isn't it amazing that even though most of us have never met in real life, how connected we feel. I sit here in tears as I read your message having just gotten my email from Neet about Eliza's passing. What a wonderful thing this WOYWW is that you started where bonds have reached across the world. My love and thoughts go out to her Dad, children and Yoda.

I haven't visited WOYWW for a while and I'm only just catching up on news - I'm deeply saddened by Eliza's passing. I was so looking forward to seeing more photos of Yoda - I took it for granted that they will always be there. I'm still in shock, I can't believe it, so so sad...
